C&A Initiative
The IT Team is currently working on an initiative to take our IT capabilities to the next level. With the recent building renovations, the IT Team was able to secure a new space for our server room, effectively tripling in size over the old facility. With a migration plan in place and hardware for the new server room on order, we are preparing to construct a new state-of-the-art server room on site. With an upgraded firewall in place, we will be working on efficiency and security measures as well as developing new policies and procedures in order to bring our facilities up to par with the standards outlined in FISMA and by NIST. This will uniquely position HCDI as one of a handful of small businesses housing a facility conforming to the standards of a Certification and Accreditation set forth by many of our Government clients. In accomplishing this, we hope to continue to grow our IT capabilities and expand the IT services HCDI will provide in order to better serve our clients.

Community-Based Particpatory Research
HCDI has a strong interest in community-based participatory research regarding Medicare beneficiaries. Currently, 44 million beneficiaries (almost 15% of the U.S. population) are enrolled in the Medicare program. Enrollment is expected to rise to 79 million by 2030. While most receive coverage due to their age eligibility, about 16% of the Medicare population is eligible due to disabilities. HCDI is interested in using community relations to gain first person knowledge from beneficiaries to determine their challenges and concerns with Medicare. Research conducted by Federal organizations on Medicare beneficiaries is done at a national level, and does not acquire results from a person-by-person perspective. With community ties providing access to beneficiaries, HCDI can acquire insightful research as to what beneficiaries are experiencing in their day-to-day lives. This research can be expanded to different geographical locations to determine if certain challenges are only found in certain areas of the DC metropolitan area.
HCDI Receives a BPA from DOL ODEP
In the summer of 2011, HCDI received a Blanket Purchase Agreement from the Department of Labor, Office of Disability Employment Policy. This five year agreement was awarded to HCDI's Conference Management and Event Planning division and it was sparked by the exceptional support displayed in work on previous contracts.
In 2010, HCDI worked with the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to coordinate logistics for the Hiring Event for People with Disabilities. As a result of our excellent work, HCDI went on to coordinate the 2011 Add Us In Expert Strategy Meeting and Add Us In National Diversity Forum.

The ODEP BPA has taken the vision of the company as well as the Conference Management and Event Planning division to another level. We are excited to be a part of the amazing programs that ODEP has developed to ensure inclusion in the workforce for people with disabilities.
